Pantanal
January 2nd, 2009 by andrea

Speaking of nature, with respect to Brazil, brings to mind the Amazon, it is true. Nevertheless, the Pantanal has little to envy the immense rain forest with regard to variety and number of plant and animal species housed.
Unlike Amazon, however, to dominate the environment of the Pantanal is not the forest, but the grassy plain, indeed, in hindsight, the water.

This area coincides with an ancient sea basin inside the continent, a huge lake sediment created by erosion of the surrounding hillsides were almost completely filled. Almost, because the whole area is flooded by stormwater and those coming from the mountains surrounding the basin, forming a series of lakes, ponds, marshes and vast interconnected by innumerable streams, so that the whole region Boat runs much more smoothly than any other medium.
This has absolutely hindered any particular environment or agricultural production activities, thus preserving a natural environment of boundless wealth.
Here we focus many species of birds that make the Pantanal bird watchers' paradise, with caimans, anacondas, otters, tapirs, anteaters, monkeys, along with many other mammals, reptiles and fish.
